In focus: Dr. Spyros Panos’ professional career

Dr. Spyros Panos is a gifted orthopedic surgeon with a lot of achievements under his belt. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the City College of New York, with honors in Biology, in 1989. In 1993, he obtained his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Because of his academic prowess, he was elected into the school’s Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He received extensive post-graduate training, starting from his internship in general surgery at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center from 1993-1994, where he was awarded the Intern of the Year Award. Dr. Panos took up his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he was a recipient of the Academic Competition Award in 1994. He obtained his Fellowship in sports medicine at the MCP Hahnemann University.

Dr. Spyros Panos is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He has extensive experience in practicing orthopedic surgery, with subspecialty interests in joint reconstruction, trauma surgery, and sports medicine. Joint reconstruction refers to the management and surgical treatment of bone and joint problems, while trauma surgery refers to a surgical specialty involved in the invasive treatment of physical injuries. Sports medicine refers to the management and treatment of injuries that usually affect athletes, such as sprains, strains, ligament tears, dislocation, and joint and bone damage.
